Train strikes live: Rail workers walk out across London with disruption on Thameslink, Southeastern and more
Today, January 30th, travelers will experience disturbances owing to a strike by ASLEF train drivers. This situation emerged following unsuccessful salary discussions with the management. The strike impacts six railway operators: Gatwick Express, Great Northern, South Western Railway, Southeastern, Southern, and Thameslink.
National Rail has indicated that from today until the next five days, train services will be extremely limited or non-existent. The strike action includes today, tomorrow, Friday, Saturday, and Monday, with train drivers ceasing work.
According to National Rail, the strike will affect different rail companies in various ways. Additionally, there was a restriction on overtime work yesterday, January 29, and another one is scheduled for Tuesday, February 6.
Travelers are being cautioned about considerable travel disruptions and are advised to check their travel plans in advance.
The strike does not impact the London Underground. However, the Central line is experiencing disruptions, with no service between North Acton and Ealing Broadway due to a points failure at North Acton, and severe delays on the rest of the line caused by a train shortage. Other lines on the London Underground are operating normally.
