A-Level Outcomes: Celebrating students’ success at City of London Academy Southwark
Yesterday, students of City of London Academy Southwark (CoLAS) rejoiced as they were presented with their A-level results. Their commendable achievements encompass a 16% pass rate for grades A* to A, a robust 47% for grades A* to B, and an admirable 73% for grades A* to C. Furthermore, 56% surpassed the DDD grade in BTEC.
A spotlight on some of the standout students:
- Sophie Sungkur: Distinct A* grades in Psychology, Sociology, Religious Studies, and Extended Project Qualification.
- Ayan Farah: Outstanding A* A A grades in subjects like Psychology, Chemistry, and Biology.
- Juliet Ogbeni: Achieved A grades across the board in Maths, Further Maths, Economics, and Extended Project Qualification.
- Makai Lodge Bovell, Sila Gumus Sungkur, and Youssef Tazouti all secured straight A grades in their respective subjects.
City of London Academy Southwark is an esteemed part of the City of London Academies Trust, a body overseeing the City of London Corporation’s sponsored academies, spread across regions like Hackney, Newham, Islington, and Southwark.
Michael Baxter, the dedicated headteacher of CoLAS, expressed his pride: “Despite the past three years’ inflated grades due to Covid, results reflect the tireless efforts of our Year 13 students. Their achievements have paved the way for promising futures in various fields.”
Catherine McGuinness, Chair of the City of London Academies Trust Board, also extended her heartfelt congratulations, emphasising gratitude towards the devoted teaching staff.
The City Corporation’s commitment to excellence is evident. They’ve twice been recognised by the Sutton Trust, a renowned social mobility charity, for their exemplary role in fostering achievement among pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds, excelling in both Progress 8 and Attainment 8 metrics.
